It is at this time of the year when the annual awarding of the Executive of the Year takes place.  As PAS celebrates its 52nd Administrative Professionals Week last 18 – 24 April 2010, we were fortunate to have gathered very good nominees from diverse industries that vied for the title, but as always, there was only one who got the pot.

It was a unanimous decision by the three judges who spent the whole afternoon of Friday, 9 April to review thoroughly all the nominees’ answers to the Questionnaires provided to them by the Executive of the Year (EOY) Committee Chair, Stella F Nacua.

Mr. Gerard B. Sanvictores, Partner/People Leader and Head of Administration of Sycip Gorres Velayo & Co, bested all the candidates for his outstanding management qualities as an Executive and for his support to Rose Rancap’s professional growth and personal development. 

He received the “Sycip Award”, the highest distinction given to a staff member of SGV & Co.  His knowledge and experience in the corporate world has backed him up, and carried with him the trademark approach to the so-called “change”.  As a leader, his approach is very much rooted in addressing the longer-term human aspects of change: recovery, revitalisation and recommitment.  His expertise not only extends to the field of accounting, he is also a seasoned speaker and lecturer on various topics dealing with human enablement. SGV & Co recognises that its People are the main drivers of success and that they are much valued.

On top of his various scopes of responsibilities in the Firm, he is actively involved in promoting international understanding and goodwill.  He heads the various environmental sustainability initiatives of the Firm.

As Mr Sanvictores would proudly say, his relationship with his assistant is a partnership cultivated through mutual respect and admiration for the other’s capabilities.  Rose thanks Mr Sanvictores for his trust and confidence in her capabilities, his mentoring and patient guidance, and his encouragement by maximising her competencies.
